
UNA, China's Xinhua to Boost Media Cooperation
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Union of News Agencies (UNA) yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding with China's Xinhua News Agency in Zhengzhou, China, on the sidelines of UNA's participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit, which runs from July 23 to 27.
UNA Director-General Mohammed bin Abd Rabbo Al-Yami and Xinhua News Agency President Fu Hua signed the agreement, which aims to enhance media cooperation between the two sides.
The agreement aims to develop mechanisms for news exchange and professional training, fostering greater civilizational understanding. It also seeks to solidify friendship and mutual understanding while boosting bilateral cooperation in news and information dissemination, to be achieved through media product exchange, reciprocal visits, and training programs and workshops for journalistic and technical staff.
