The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Jeddah Islamic Port thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2,916,180 amphetamine pills (Captagon) concealed within a shipment of shea butter. Using advanced security technologies and inspection methods, customs officers discovered the illicit substance hidden inside the imported goods.
Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, leading to the arrest of two individuals who were intended to receive the shipment in the Kingdom.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to tightening control over all imports and exports to protect society and curb the smuggling of prohibited substances.
ZATCA also urged the public to assist in national security efforts by reporting smuggling crimes via the dedicated number 1910, email, or the international reporting line 009661910, with complete confidentiality and financial rewards for accurate information.
