Roads General Authority Strategy Boosts Use of Modern Technologies, Data in Road Network Management

The Roads General Authority (RGA) is expanding the use of modern technologies in managing and operating the road network as part of its efforts to develop the sector, leveraging data and artificial intelligence to support decision-making and improve the efficiency of road network management.

 The authority uses a number of modern technologies, foremost among them the Smart Control Center, which manages the road network around the clock by monitoring the network's operational status and analyzing data in real time. This enhances response times and improves traffic management efficiency on roads.

 It also uses survey and assessment equipment and a forecasting system that rely on data and artificial intelligence to predict future road conditions. This supports preventive maintenance, helps maintain road quality, and extends the operational lifespan of roads.

 As part of efforts to improve inspection and assessment efficiency, the authority uses a road marking survey device that measures marking performance at a speed more than 10 times faster than manual measurement. This improves the accuracy of results, helps maintain the clarity of road markings, and enhances road safety.

 The RGA stressed that modern technologies support its strategy to develop the road sector by transforming road data into proactive decisions that improve operational and maintenance efficiency, enhance the experience of road users, and strengthen the sustainability of the Kingdom's road network.
