KSrelief Extends Masam Project Contract in Yemen for One Year
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) today extended the implementation contract for the Masam project for clearing landmines from Yemeni territory for one year, valued at $52,531,168.65.
The project is implemented by Saudi personnel and global expertise through trained Yemeni teams, removing mines randomly planted across Yemeni territory, while also carrying out training and capacity-building activities for Yemeni personnel in mine clearance.
KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah affirmed that renewing this contract reflects the center's sense of humanitarian responsibility toward the Yemeni people, given the project's importance in clearing mines that have caused permanent injuries, disabilities, and loss of life, particularly among children, women, and the elderly. He noted that the project has so far cleared 567,182 anti-personnel mines, anti-tank mines, unexploded ordnance, and various explosive remnants.
Dr. Al Rabeeah extended his thanks to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their humanitarian efforts that have helped alleviate the suffering of needy and affected people around the world, particularly the brotherly Yemeni people.
