Saudi Arabia Reinforces Its Global Leadership in Responsible Media by Nominating AI Principles in Media Document for WSIS 2026 Award

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2026 announced the nomination of the “AI Principles in Media” document for its global awards. The document was launched by Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary, in the presence of President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) Dr. Abdullah Alghamdi, during the Saudi Media Forum 2026, in partnership with SDAIA. The nomination reflects the Kingdom’s advanced position in developing responsible digital media in line with international best practices.

This nomination underscores the Kingdom’s role in shaping regulatory and ethical frameworks for the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the media sector, enhancing content credibility and reinforcing the principles of professionalism and transparency.

The document presents a comprehensive national framework built on eight key principles: transparency and disclosure; credibility and information integrity; privacy protection; prevention of misleading content; human responsibility; fairness and impartiality; technical security; and protection of intellectual property rights.

The nomination also represents an extension of national efforts to promote the responsible use of advanced technologies and address emerging challenges, including deepfakes. It further strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a regional and global hub for developing innovative artificial intelligence solutions, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
