RGA: Saudi Road Code Sets Standards for Safety, Efficiency, and Sustainability

The Roads General Authority (RGA) affirmed that the Saudi Road Code represents a comprehensive and unified framework for linking vital centers to the national road network, to facilitate access, enhance traffic safety, and support quality of life. This initiative reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to achieve the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability across its road infrastructure.

 The code provides detailed guidance for planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance, including environmental considerations and readiness for autonomous vehicles.

 The initiative aligns with the Road Sector Program and Saudi Arabia’s ambition to rank among the top six countries globally in road quality by 2030. After a pilot phase last year, the code is now mandatory for government entities and has been extended to the private sector.

 The RGA continues to oversee and regulate the Kingdom’s road network, promoting safety, efficiency, and global standards.
