Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University Ranks 11th Globally, 2nd Locally in US Utility Patents
Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University achieved 11th place globally and 2nd locally in the ranking of the world’s top 100 universities by number of US Utility Patents for 2025, according to a report issued by the National Academy of Inventors. The university recorded 175 internationally registered patents in one year, according to official data approved by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
This ranking is considered one of the most prominent international indicators of the effectiveness of innovation ecosystems at universities worldwide. It reflects academic institutions’ ability to transform research outputs into protected, applicable, and marketable technologies, thereby supporting the knowledge economy and sustainable development.
The achievement underscores the university’s strategic commitment to building an integrated innovation ecosystem that enhances the Kingdom’s global competitiveness and supports the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 toward a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.
