Saudi Arabia, Qatar Human Rights Bodies Sign Cooperation MoU
Saudi Human Rights Commission Chair Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri and State of Qatar National Human Rights Committee Chairperson Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah today signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of human rights.
The memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation on human rights–related matters in accordance with the national legislation of both countries, build the capacities of professionals working in relevant fields, and exchange expertise, programs, and joint projects in human rights studies, as well as promote their dissemination to enhance awareness of human rights culture.
It also provides for the exchange of visits and invitations, the organization of joint seminars, lectures, and training programs, participation in meetings and conferences held by either side in areas covered by the memorandum, and sharing best practices and experiences in the field of human rights.
Regarding statistics and information, the two sides agreed to exchange reports and scientific research on promoting and protecting human rights, and to raise awareness and education on the rights of persons with disabilities, children, women, and older persons, among other rights.
The memorandum comes as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation in the field of human rights and exchange expertise and information in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
