Saudi Arabia Participates in CERF Advisory Group Meeting in Geneva
Saudi Arabia took part in the UN Advisory Group of the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), held over two days in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Kingdom was represented by Assistant Supervisor General for Planning and Development at the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and a member of the CERF Advisory Group Dr. Aqeel Al-Ghamdi. The meeting brought together Advisory Group members, senior officials from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), representatives of UN agencies, and Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock.
The meeting opened with a comprehensive review of CERF’s performance in 2024, including detailed data on geographic allocations, priority sectors, and alignment with humanitarian principles. Discussions also covered the fund’s progress in climate action and proactive emergency response efforts.
Saudi Arabia’s participation underscores its longstanding commitment to multilateral humanitarian engagement and its strategic vision to enhance the effectiveness of global humanitarian funding through equitable mechanisms, timely responses, and robust international partnerships.
The Kingdom reaffirmed its leading role in global humanitarian efforts, particularly through the initiatives of KSrelief, whose active collaboration with UN agencies and international partners continues to amplify the impact of emergency relief operations worldwide.
