Madinah Development Authority Implements 16 Initiatives to Serve Pilgrims in 2024

Al Madinah Region Development Authority implemented 16 initiatives in 2024 as part of the Pilgrim Experience Program, aiming to facilitate and enhance the Hajj and Umrah journey, serve worshippers at the Prophet’s Mosque and major mosques, rehabilitate historical areas, and develop related infrastructure.
These initiatives form part of a wider system of projects implemented by various government entities under the Pilgrim Experience Program to ensure comfort, security, and safety for worshippers and visitors. The efforts encompass a range of initiatives including infrastructure development, workforce training, crowd management, and the deployment of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence applications.
The Pilgrim Experience Program has yielded tangible results, with 89 high-impact initiatives launched to enrich pilgrims' spiritual journeys. Of these, 34 have been completed, 47 are currently in progress, four are delayed, and four have yet to begin. The program’s performance indicator reached 95%, reflecting the progress of these initiatives.
In 2024, the program marked a significant increase in the number of implemented initiatives—89 in total by 23 participating entities—compared to 69 initiatives carried out by 20 entities in 2023. The initiatives span multiple sectors, including security, Hajj and Umrah services, transport and logistics, culture, finance, tourism, investment, the non-profit sector, aviation, Awqaf (endowments), technology, emergency response, and healthcare, in addition to the efforts of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.
