AlUla's Dual Allure: Ancient Rock Formations and Thriving Palm Groves
AlUla Governorate features a striking natural landscape where ancient rock formations blend with lush palm groves, reflecting the region’s identity and agricultural richness, especially during the date season.
As one of the Kingdom’s leading date producers, AlUla plays a vital role in Saudi Arabia’s agricultural landscape. According to 2024 statistics from the agricultural sector of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), palm farms cover approximately 16,579.40 hectares and are home to over 3.1 million palm trees.
AlUla’s annual date production reaches approximately 116,055.81 tons, making it one of the Kingdom’s most prominent contributors to the national date supply. The production season begins in mid-August and continues through the end of October, bringing a surge of economic activity to local markets.
RCU continues to advance the agricultural sector through technical support and advisory programs, promoting sustainable farming practices that boost production efficiency and strengthen food security, all in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
