Makkah Green Initiatives Plant over 145,000 Seedlings in First Half of 2026

Makkah Region branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and its offices in the governorates achieved notable progress in afforestation endeavors during the first half of 2026 as part of its efforts to advance environmental sustainability, expand green spaces, and develop vegetation cover across the region.

 The achievements included planting more than 145,000 seedlings and implementing more than 300 green initiatives at various locations across Makkah Region. They also included rehabilitating 91 farms covering 4,300 hectares, which were planted with more than 19,278 environmentally suitable seedlings.

 Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Makkah Region Eng. Waleed Al Dughays stressed that these figures reflect the scale of efforts undertaken by the branch and its offices to achieve the targets of the Saudi Green Initiative. He noted that the branch continues to expand afforestation efforts and rehabilitate land, thereby increasing vegetation cover and advancing environmental sustainability in Makkah Region.
