ZATCA Foils Attempts to Smuggle over 220,000 Prohibited Pills

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has recently made significant strides in combating drug smuggling at the King Fahd Causeway, Haditha, and Dabaa ports, successfully intercepting three separate attempts to smuggle over 220,000 prohibited pills.

In the first attempt at King Fahd Causeway, the authorities seized 120,370 Captagon pills and an additional 45,975 illegal pills hidden in the cavities of a vehicle's doors. The second seizure took place at Haditha port, where customs officials found 21,011 Captagon pills concealed in a passenger's suitcase of clothing. At Dabaa port, another successful interception led to the discovery of 34,084 Captagon pills hidden in the driver's seat cavity of a truck.

Subsequently, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to apprehend two suspects involved in receiving these illicit goods in the Kingdom.

The ZATCA has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports. It remains vigilant against smuggling attempts, aiming to fulfill a key aspect of its strategy to bolster societal security and protection by curtailing the smuggling of harmful substances and other illicit goods.

It urged everyone to participate in combating the smuggling attempts to safeguard society and the national economy by calling (1910), the international number (009661910), or via e-mail (1910@zatca.gov.sa). Through these channels, the authority receives reports regarding smuggling crimes and violations of the unified customs system in strict confidentiality, offering a financial reward if the information provided is accurate.
