Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project Restores Historical Al-Tuwaim Mosque in Al-Majmaah
The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques has restored Al-Tuwaim Mosque in Al-Majmaah, preserving a landmark dating back to the 14th century (8th century AH).
Originally built in the traditional Najdi style by the Al-Waili tribe, the 461-square-meter mosque served as a primary religious and educational hub for centuries, hosting renowned historians and scholars.
The restoration, completed in 2019 by specialized Saudi teams, carefully preserved unique architectural features, including the bead-stone cylindrical columns, the traditional Quranic school, and the courtyard markers used to calculate prayer times.
The project continues to restore ancient mosques across the Kingdom, preserving their authentic architectural character and cultural significance in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
