
Umm Al-Qura University's Ongoing Studies to Improve Experience of Pilgrims
Umm Al-Qura University offers studies, research, training courses, and volunteer work by providing high-quality educational and training programs and encouraging scientific and creative research in the field of improving the experience of pilgrims.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research at the university has conducted numerous studies, including 17 research studies, in which 34 researchers and more than 458 data collectors participated. The studies covered a variety of fields, including crowd management, security and safety, enrichment and sustainability, technology and artificial intelligence, in addition to measuring pilgrims' satisfaction in 20 languages, most notably Turkish, Persian, Hindi, Russian, and English. The "Wifadah" electronic platform for distance learning has registered more than 34,000 beneficiaries, as part of the university's efforts to enhance the efficiency of personnel working in Hajj.
In the translation field, the Institute of Research and Consulting Studies -- in cooperation with Wadi Makkah for Technology Company and the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque -- provided translations of the Friday and Eid sermons and the sermon on the Day of Arafah into more than 20 languages, benefiting approximately 600 million beneficiaries worldwide.
The university organized five hackathons to support innovation and entrepreneurship in serving pilgrims, with the participation of approximately 30,000 innovators.
Umm Al-Qura University is distinguished by offering qualitative educational programs to qualify students in the Colleges of Medicine and Business and Economics, training them in crowd and disaster management and skills for managing the Hajj and Umrah seasons. These are achieved through the study of diverse courses covering various administrative, health, and societal aspects.
