
Maldives President Hails Makkah Route Initiative as Testament to Saudi Leadership's Dedication to Islam
President of the Republic of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressed profound gratitude for the launch of the Makkah Route Initiative in the Maldives, aimed at serving pilgrims.
President Muizzu conveyed his deep appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for welcoming the Maldives into this initiative. He described their leadership of the Islamic world as a "sublime model of giving, unity, and service," highlighting the Kingdom's pivotal role in wisely serving Islam.
He lauded the official launch of the Makkah Route Initiative in the Maldives as an invaluable service that will greatly facilitate and enrich the pilgrimage journey for Maldivian citizens. "For the first time, Maldivian pilgrims will benefit from this pioneering initiative, designed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under its wise leadership," he stated. The initiative, part of the Pilgrim Experience Program under Vision 2030, enables the completion of all passport, customs, and health screening procedures at Velana International Airport, ensuring that pilgrims arrive in the Kingdom ready to proceed directly to their accommodations with comfort and dignity.
The Maldivian president emphasized that his country's participation in this global initiative is strong evidence of the deep fraternal ties between the two nations, as well as Saudi Arabia's unwavering dedication to serving Islam and the Islamic nation with "the highest levels of skill, insight, and care."
Concluding his remarks, President Muizzu renewed his gratitude to the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia, expressing anticipation for strengthened cooperation and joint action for the benefit of the entire Islamic nation.
