LPTC Concludes Saudi Participation in Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026
The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission (LPTC) concluded Saudi Arabia’s participation in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026, held from April 13 to 16 in Bologna, Italy, amid a strong cultural presence reflecting the global publishing industry, particularly in children’s and young adult literature.
LPTC's CEO Dr. Abdullatif Al-Wasel affirmed that the Kingdom’s participation aligns with efforts to strengthen its presence at one of the world’s leading specialized platforms. The book fair brings together children’s and young adult literature and the international publishing industry within a dynamic professional environment that keeps pace with the sector’s latest developments.
He explained that the accompanying cultural program provided a vibrant platform showcasing the diversity of creative experiences in children’s and young adult literature through sessions addressing translation, narrative, and philosophy.
He noted that the Saudi presence reflects rapid progress in the production of children’s and young adult books in the Kingdom, highlighting the growing diversity in themes and styles. He added that the participation contributed to opening new avenues for cooperation in publishing and translation, enhancing opportunities for intellectual property rights exchange, supporting the global reach of Saudi content, and strengthening its presence and impact on a wider scale.
The Kingdom’s pavilion hosted a diverse cultural program featuring a number of writers and specialists, including panel discussions that reflected the vitality of the Kingdom’s creative scene and the diversity of the Saudi experience in children’s literature. The strong attendance underscored the growing interest in Saudi content for children and young adults and its increasing presence in global markets. It also highlighted strengthened cooperation with publishers and rights agents, support for professional activity in publishing and translation, and the promotion of Saudi output in writing and illustrating children’s books.
Additionally, the pavilion included several cultural and knowledge institutions, such as the King Fahd National Library, the King Abdulaziz Public Library, and the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, reflecting the integration of national efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s presence on the international cultural scene.
