
‘Sadu Weaving’ Highlights the Depths of Cultural Heritage in Summer of Al-Baha Region
Al-Baha Craftsmen Forum 2025, held in a traditional setting that celebrates the authenticity of local heritage, drew large crowds to the "Sadu Weaving" corner—one of the forum’s standout attractions due to its deep cultural significance and artistic elegance, authentically crafted by Saudi women artisans.
Among the participants was craftswoman Salha Al-Ghamdi, who captivated visitors with a live demonstration of traditional weaving, showcasing over 20 years of experience and dedication to this heritage-rich craft. She introduced audiences to the intricate techniques of Sadu weaving, the materials used, and how they are transformed into a variety of functional and decorative products.
Sadu is a time-honored handicraft widely practiced by women in desert communities, involving the weaving of wool with colorful threads into patterns and symbols inspired by the surrounding environment. The art is renowned for its geometric precision and the distinct aesthetic sensibility it reflects, highlighting the skill and creativity of the craftswomen.
