Human Resources Ministry Introduces Work Interruption Service for Domestic Worker Contracts

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has launched the work interruption service through the national unified recruitment platform, Musaned, as part of the contractual relationship improvement initiative. The service aims to enable individual employers to legally terminate the contractual relationship when a domestic worker is absent from work, ensuring clarity and safeguarding the rights of both parties.
The service allows individual employers to carry out two main procedures: contract termination due to work interruption and labor mobility service.
The ministry noted that if a work contract is terminated due to a worker’s absence within the first two years of their entry into the Kingdom, the worker must complete final exit procedures within a period not exceeding 60 days. Failure to leave within this period will constitute a violation of the residency and labor laws.
If the domestic worker has resided in the Kingdom for more than two years, they must either obtain a final exit visa or transfer to a new employer within 60 days of the interruption. Failure to regularize their status within this period will result in classification as absent from work and a violation of applicable regulations.
This service is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to regulate the recruitment sector, enhance the efficiency of contractual procedures, improve service quality, increase compliance and transparency, and protect the rights of all parties involved.
