Assistant Secretary General for Communication and International Cooperation at the Muslim World League Participates in the Annual High-Level Meeting of the Group of Friends of the UN Alliance of Civilizations

On behalf of His Excellency the Secretary General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Mr. Abdulwahab bin Muhammad Al-Shahri, Assistant Secretary-General for Communication and International Cooperation, participated in the Annual High-Level Meeting of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.

The meeting was attended by the High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, as well as a number of foreign ministers and diplomats from the Group of Friends, alongside representatives of international and faith-based organizations.

In his address, Al-Shahri outlined the Muslim World League’s position on a number of issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.

He emphasized the importance of moving dialogue from principles to action and impactful partnerships, highlighting the MWL’s efforts in education, interfaith dialogue, and promoting peace within communities.

Al-Shahri stressed the urgent need to protect civilians in Gaza and to bring an immediate end to their suffering, while ensuring that the Palestinian people attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them the right to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, as the only pathway to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
