Vice Minister of Sport: Number of Tennis Clubs in the Kingdom Now Exceeds 170
Vice Minister of Sport Bader Alkadi said that hosting major sporting events has had a clear effect on athlete performance. He noted that Saudi Arabia ranked fourth with more than fifty medals in the championship held in Riyadh last month, compared with fifteenth place in 2021.
Speaking at the Budget Forum 2026, Alkadi said that participation in sports and physical activity stood at 13% in 2013 and reached 51% in 2024.
He explained that the number of tennis clubs rose from 71 in 2019 to more than 170 today, an increase of about 140%. More than 5,000 people practiced the sport during 2025.
Alkadi added that the size of the sports sector market was about SAR5 billion in 2016 and reached SAR32 billion in 2024.
