Communications Minister from Davos: Saudi Arabia a Trusted Global Partner in Building the AI Ecosystem

Saudi Arabia stands as a trusted global partner in building the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem in the Intelligent Age, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha said during a session held as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Alswaha said the Kingdom’s position is underpinned by key enablers, including energy, capital, infrastructure, and human capabilities, enabling innovators and investors to scale up and accelerate value creation.
The minister made the remarks during a panel discussion titled “AI for Global Prosperity: Aligning Innovation, Inclusion, and Trust,” held at the Saudi House pavilion in Davos.
He noted that Saudi Arabia’s achievements in AI and advanced computing reflect the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, with continued support and follow-up by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to establish the Kingdom as a reliable global partner in building an innovation-driven economy that empowers people and protects the planet in the Intelligent Age.
Alswaha highlighted the world’s entry into the Intelligent Age, noting that human progress has historically been linked to the ability to build infrastructure and scale capabilities.
While the 20th century was centered on energy, the 21st century is being defined by computing power and artificial intelligence, he said, noting that the energy gap of the past has now become a computing gap.
As the world’s largest energy provider, Saudi Arabia plays a pivotal role in expanding access to AI technologies and promoting inclusivity in benefiting from this general-purpose technology, the minister emphasized.
He pointed to the Kingdom’s investments in advanced computing, as well as efforts to address challenges related to chip and memory architecture, contributing to the development of a scalable and sustainable AI ecosystem.
Moreover, Saudi-led initiatives in healthcare, energy, and advanced chemistry provide practical models for deploying AI at scale to benefit humanity and the planet, thereby advancing global prosperity in the Intelligent Age, Alswaha said.
