Jazan Launches SAR600 Million Tropical Fruits and Greenhouses Project

As Saudi Arabia moves toward building a more efficient and sustainable agricultural sector, Jazan Region is emerging as one of the Kingdom's most promising agricultural investment destinations. Leveraging its natural advantages and favorable climate, the region is developing the tropical fruits and greenhouses project, with investments exceeding SAR600 million.

The project covers a total area of 1 million square meters, including 500,000 square meters dedicated to high-tech greenhouses and another 500,000 square meters for tropical fruit cultivation, leveraging the region's comparative agricultural advantages.

The project is based on the latest smart farming technologies, including advanced greenhouse climate control systems, closed-loop irrigation systems for water recycling, and modern technologies that reduce water consumption by up to 75%, improving the efficient use of natural resources and supporting environmental sustainability goals.

Technology transfer is a key pillar of the project through a Saudi-Dutch partnership, enabling the transfer of the best international practices and expertise to the region while supporting the localization of advanced agricultural technologies and enhancing local content in the sector.

The project reflects the region's ambition to establish itself as a national hub for modern agriculture by combining its natural advantages with advanced technologies and international partnerships. It supports food security, creates new opportunities for investment, manufacturing, and exports, and serves as a model for transforming the region's competitive strengths into sustainable development projects with long-term economic impact.
