My story with archery

I was only 10 years old when my parents encouraged me to try archery. I didn't want to step out of the recreational pattern I was used to, as I had never played archery before, nor had I ever watched or known about it. So, at first, I resisted my parents' desire and called it a bad idea, but their encouragement and urging never stopped. Over time, I decided to listen to them and give it a try.

To my surprise, what initially seemed like a bad idea turned into a passion, becoming an essential and exciting part of my life, filling and occupying my free time. My coach quickly discovered my talent, and after just a few weeks of training, he decided that I was ready to register for the next upcoming tournament, that would take place in Riyadh.

Although I was hesitant and afraid to participate, I took part and gave it my all.
Although I did not win in this first try, I gained significant experience that helped me in subsequent tournaments, and my determination to develop my skills and abilities increased. This made me more resolute in my efforts and hard training; it finally bore fruit in the third tournament, which was a major championship at the national level in the 10-meter category that I was prepared for. I entered it with full confidence and managed to reach the finals, where I faced a more experienced archer with numerous gold medals. With overwhelming happiness, I managed to win against this champion contender which made a name and value for me in the sport of archery at the age of eleven.

After a few months, I won first place in the Riyadh Grand Championship at a distance of 18 meters. And over the next few years, my level improved and continued to rise, which led me to achieve victory after victory. I became known as one of the best under 18 archers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. My good performance led me to join the Al-Hilal Archery Team, one of the most popular and important clubs in Saudi Arabia. I signed my very first professional contract with them and represented them in many tournaments, winning numerous medals in Saudi archery competitions held in Jubail, Jeddah, and Qassim. I have also earned the highest number of medals in my category and being ranked as one of the best under 18 archers.

I write these lines for my younger brother and for all the youth who have just started engaging in archery, or any other sport. I highly encourage them to put in effort in training, to be patient and persistent in improving their skills to achieve medals and advanced positions, and to adhere to the spirit and noble sports ethics.
