NCM: Al-Majmaah and Al-Ghat Governorates Witness Snowfall This Morning
Al-Majmaah and Al-Ghat governorates, north of Riyadh Region, witnessed snowfall this morning as part of the winter weather conditions, due to the impact of a noticeable drop in temperatures, which led to the formation of snow over highlands and open areas.
National Center for Meteorology (NCM) official spokesperson Hussein Al-Qahtani explained that the weather conditions affecting the north of Riyadh Region are the result of a cold air mass advancing into the area, accompanied by rain-bearing thunderclouds. This contributed to temperatures dropping below zero degrees Celsius in some locations, creating favorable conditions for snowfall during the early morning hours.
Al-Qahtani noted that the center had issued early warnings regarding the weather conditions, adding that specialized teams continue to monitor developments. He expected temperatures to remain low over the coming hours, with a chance of frost in several areas of the Kingdom's northern and central regions.
He urged citizens and residents to exercise caution, particularly while driving on exposed roads due to the potential formation of ice and slippery conditions, stressing the importance of following official weather updates issued by the center through its official channels, adhering to preventive guidelines, and avoiding open areas during peak cold periods to ensure public safety.
