Northern Borders Resident Cultivates Salvadora Persica in Harsh Desert Environment

Jumaa Al-Anzi, a resident of Northern Borders Region, successfully cultivated the salvadora persica, or toothbrush tree, in a desert environment typically deemed unsuitable by creating specific conditions using long pipes and soft, well-draining soil.

Al-Anzi explained that his interest stemmed from the tree’s adaptability when its basic needs are met. The salvadora persica has deep roots that help it thrive in dry soil, numerous branches that promote healthy growth, and small fruits that are valued locally.
