Firas Al-Ghamdi, the leader of "Birdie" Golf Club, a club in the National Portal for Hobbies "Hawi," describes golf as "it is more than just a game; it's an art that requires immense precision and unbreakable determination." He added, "Although the club was established only three months ago, it has attracted 21 members and garnered over 530 social media followers. Such figures reflect the rapid growth and rising passion for golf in the Kingdom as well as indicate that the community encourages such sport."
The Idea Behind the Club's Establishment
According to Al-Ghamdi, there was a lack of a strong society to contribute to golf as a hobby. This led to the establishment of the club, which aims to create a culture of society by enabling hobbyists to practice their favorite sport and connect with individuals who share similar interests.
Al-Ghamdi’s passion for golf stems from the sport's unique challenges, as each course is like a unique piece of art requiring play with different strategies to overcome natural obstacles such as lakes and trees. These continuous challenges attract several people to such a sport.
Notable Growth of Golf in the Kingdom
Al-Ghamdi highlighted that golf as a hobby in the Kingdom is evolving through a remarkable development, which hosts several international tournaments, such as the Aramco Team Series and the World Golf Championship. The encouragement from the government has greatly contributed to the sport's growth and popularity among various segments of society.
The "Birdie" Golf Club aims to build an inclusive community for all golf enthusiasts in the Kingdom regardless of nationality. The club strives to achieve multiple goals, including prompting beginners by assisting them to start playing and participating in golf tournaments and events across the Kingdom.

He praised the efforts of Hawi for offering several free services, including logo design and providing certification after training course completion. Since its launch in October 2022, the Hawi platform has achieved great success, exceeding 1,313 clubs registered, more than 72,872 members, and the organization of 1,637 events. Additionally, above 219 hobbies have been identified and classified.
